A Children's and Junior Troupe's Spring Production
We're excited to announce
Words Players Theatre in partnership with The Rochester Civic Theatre
Night Sets Her Foot in Morocco
A Zany Slapstick Adventure
An all-out slapstick comedy with chasing policemen, escaping bandits, cars full of misfits and, of course, a restaurant scene!
This year, we're doing something different!
We begin with a finished, scripted play (written several years ago by Words Players people). This approach lends the opportunity to focus on the "how-to's" that are central in what we do here at Words Players. We will begin with two weeks of improv and ensemble building, practicing the ever-relevant skills of reading and engaging with others, and learning how to work together. We will also work on more technical skills such as verbal and physical comedic timing and stage combat. Unlike many past years, this year rehearsals have been scheduled ahead of time and are listed below. Production week will have specific ending times. Everyone who registers will be cast, but register early, as there will be a cast limit based on the size of the venue.
Director: Daved Driscoll

***With the good news of being able to use the Civic Theatre space, the only requisite was that we'd lose a week of rehearsal, so we added 4 Mondays earlier in the process. Those Mondays will be focused on working out a big chase scene. If this change in schedule limits your ability to participate, we can certainly make those Mondays optional. Please check these new rehearsal and performance dates with your schedule and let us know if you have questions or concerns. firstname.lastname@example.org

All rehearsals for Night Sets Her Foot in Morocco will be with ALL cast members.
For Words Players veterans, this is new.
Every person interested in participating in Night Sets Her Foot in Morocco will be cast in
The first two weeks of rehearsal will consist exclusively of ensemble workshops with ALL
cast members. We will develop a basic familiarity with each other, with the nature of
ensemble creativity and with the approach to ensemble cast cooperation which applies
to this specific production. These two weeks lay an indispensable foundation for
working with Words Players.
Specific roles will be given at rehearsal on Monday, April 16. We will also take this time to
put different combinations of people together to form the sub-groups of actors who will
develop the different ensembles of the show, as well as, identifying very specific skills or
character traits for specific characters or scenes (we may need a juggler or a bear growl
or someone to make car noises) or to ascertain how specific people work together
(these two do the fist fight and these two waltz).
Breakdown of the costs:
Cast T-shirt $15
Facility rental and use fee $30
Set and prop purchase/construction $25
Cast members will also be responsible for obtaining part or all of their costumes. The
amount will vary, depending on character, generally between $10 and $55.
