Words Players Theatre moves to new campus location
Words Players Theatre will begin moving to the other side of Rochester’s DM&E tracks next week — from their current warehouse location in NE Rochester, to a location on the Crossroads College campus in SW Rochester.
Representatives from Northland Words and Crossroads College signed a lease on Nov 2 , for approximately 1800sf of administrative and rehearsal space. Crossroads currently has no students on campus.
“We’ve looked at dozens of properties in and around Rochester over the past five years, and haven’t been able to make any reasonable rental headway with any property owners,” said Daved Driscoll, Director of Northland Words, the parent organization to Words Players and The Minnesota Skyvault Theatre Company.
" We approached Crossroads and they’ve been great to work with. We look forward to being a part of their campus for the immediate future. The location will give us a much better space — indoors and out — for classes and rehearsals and small performances.”
Administrative office space, a large rehearsal space, some storage, and a studio building for SkyVault rehearsing and recording are part of the lease. The studio is available at a fortuitous time for SkyVault, as members are in the process of recording their second CD; this particular stand alone building was designed exactly as that: a recording studio.
“We understand the campus in in a transition time, and are going there with that in mind,” said Driscoll. "We look forward to being in such a fantastic location."
Look for a kick-off event in early December at the new location, when SkyVault will bring its Twin Cities-debuted On the Road to Verona to the new SW campus, for a Rochester premier of the highly acclaimed show.
